Horse riding is a popular activity in Ruby Country.
Ride the Ruby Country and Devon County Council are pleased to be able to offer the following 5 recommended horse riding routes in the southern part of Ruby Country.
These routes designed specifically for horse riding and utilising new trails, bridleways and quiet country roads form an important part of Ride the Ruby Country and will allow greater access to Ruby Country for visitors and local people and are also suitable for cyclists and walkers.
Halwill-Cookworthy horse riding circuit
This circuit is 16.5km (10 miles)
Thorndon Cross and Ashbury horse riding circuit
This circuit is 15km (9 miles)
Bratton Clovelly-Roadford Lake horse riding circuit
This circuit is 19km (12 miles) in length.
Bratton Clovelly horse riding circuit
This circuit is 13.5km (8.5 miles) in length
Horse riding circuit between Ruby Country and Dartmoor
This circuit is 16km (10 miles) in length.
These routes and now available in a 16 page brochure from a variety of locations including Cookworthy Forest Centre, Holworthy Information Centre and Okehampton Tourist Information Centre. They can also be downloaded by clicking the link below.
There are full route descriptions, local information and good pictures. We are delighted to have worked closely with Devon County Council on this part of the project. We know it will benefit riders, walkers and cyclists, as well as opening up some of the lesser visited parts of Devon, allowing more people to appreciate the wonderful views, habitat and wildlife of Ruby Country. There are also business opportunities to enjoy.
